10/8/2014 - TO HELP WITH BUILDING A QUALITY LIBRARY ! ! !

Fair Oak Workshops is pleased to introduce the Fair Oak Book Club, a convenient way for serious students of the Arts and Crafts movement to learn about and acquire (often at prices considerably below the publishers’ prices) quality books about the architects, artists, craftsmen and craftswomen, companies, institutions, and objects that collectively comprised the Arts and Crafts movement.

To help with building a quality library, each month we will feature and recommend a scholarly book that we believe should be in your library. As a participant in the Fair Oak Book Club, there is no obligation to buy any book, but with some book selections a special discount may only be offered during the month that the book is featured.

The Fair Oak Book Club initial offering for the month of October is:

Tyler has autism and lives near Toronto, Canada. By far one of Woodstock Chimes' biggest fans, Tyler's musical acuity is so strong that when a musically-tuned Woodstock Chime is rung, he can identify it by name. To honor Tyler - and to support all those living with autism - Woodstock Chimes created the Woodstock Chimes for Autism, with 100% of the wholesale after-tax profits from this chime going to autism treatment and research.

9/13/2014 - Changing Seasons ? ? ?
Wednesday was hot and humid with Summer like weather in the Midwest; the next day Thursday the weather was like Halloween and late Autumn: cold and damp!
Overnight we were reminded of the changing of the seasons!

Our block print Roycroft Renaissance Master Artisan Laura Wilder has just released her new block print which beautifully portrays the four seasons:

The cold but pristine beauty of a snow covered landscape eases into a light green landscape accented with all the pretty blooms of Spring.
Spring slides into the lush darker green of summer which transforms into the golds and oranges of Autumn.
Then we begin it all over again!

Laura offers her Seasons IV block print matted (above) or matted and framed, the latter in a choice of four frame styles:

Show above are the two Mission Style Frames (MSF) in a choice of a simple 2” or a modestly molded 3“ width frame.

Shown above are the two Arts & Crafts Style Frames (RR and RR Special) crafted by Roycroft Renaissance Master Artisan Tom Pafk. The 'Special' version is a frame Tom designed specifically for this print!
